A Reminder About Pre-Owned Liberties and Unsanctioned Sellers

It happens every couple of years or so. A late model Liberty Coach will pop up for sale on a third party website or social media feed, outside of the Liberty sales and support network. The motivation behind it varies from seller to seller, but one thing is certain. It’s always a bad idea for everyone involved – especially the buyer.

Why? Let’s start with warranties. Purchasing a used Liberty from anyone but Liberty Coach of Florida or The Motorhome Exchange immediately voids any service warranties initiated by Liberty. What’s more, any third-party warranty the seller opts to extend to the buyer can’t compare to the coverage we provide, which depending on the coach’s age and other factors may include key coach systems and components.

The same holds true for the PDI, or pre-delivery inspection, that every coach we sell undergoes before it’s delivered to the buyer. The Liberty Coach PDI is by far the most comprehensive in the industry, an exhaustive process that takes several weeks and up to 400 man-hours to complete. Nothing else comes close.

Most important of all is service. It is widely acknowledged that Liberty’s service capabilities are without peer in the industry, and the quality and frequency of the service we perform on every coach we sell is one of the biggest reasons their resale value is so much higher than our competitors’ coaches. That’s no knock on other Prevost service providers. It’s just that our coaches employ so much proprietary technology – lithium ion batteries, custom Crestron programming, cutting edge electrical architecture and much, much more – that demands a level of service expertise no one else can provide. Of course, we’ll continue to provide parts and service on every coach we build. But owners who buy from Liberty Coach will always be our priority.

When you consider all of these factors, it’s easy to see why we object so strongly when an unsanctioned listing appears. Not only does it tarnish the Liberty brand, but it will almost certainly compromise the coach’s resale value. That’s not fair to the buyer or to us.

So the next time you see a pre-owned Liberty listed for sale where it doesn’t belong, take a look at the place where it does. The only place to find the world’s finest motorcoaches – and the company committed to keeping them that way.
