Owners Group Profile: Prevost Prouds

Of all the Prevost owners’ clubs now in operation, the Prevost Prouds stand out as the “granddaddy of them all.” The group was started in 1981 by 10 couples, including Liberty Coach founders Frank and Jeanne Konigseder, who had completed the very first Prevost conversion just two years earlier. The Prouds have been thriving ever since, operating as a chapter of the Family Motor Coach Association and open to other FMCA members who own Prevost conversion coaches.

Today, Prevost Prouds membership totals around 225, with a core group of 70-75 owners (100-150 people) attending every event. “We hold two national rallies per year, one spring, one fall,” says Tim Lopez, a longtime member who’s served as club president since 2020. “The typical rally runs for 5 days and includes breakfast every morning and dinner plus open bar every night, often with a live band.” The schedule is supplemented with a variety of group activities that range from historic tours and sightseeing trips to gourmet dining at 5-star restaurants.

The rallies are held at popular destinations across the country, usually at RV resorts or upscale campgrounds that reflect the tastes of the membership. This past April, the group gathered in historic Savannah, Georgia for an extended exploration of one of America’s most beautiful cities. Up next is a trip to New Orleans in October, where attendees will share the pride of the club’s Cajun contingent at the beautiful new La Margaritaville Resort in Breaux Bridge.

“We’re looking forward to heading back to New Orleans with the Prouds – it’s always a great time,” says Liberty V.P. and longtime Prevost Prouds member Frank Konigseder Jr. “There’s been a definite uptick in energy and enthusiasm the last few rallies, and I see that trend continuing through the fall and beyond.”

Tim Lopez concurs. “Over the last few years, we’ve made a concerted effort to take the rally experience up a notch,” he says. “Better venues, better restaurants, better activities on the one hand, and a lower key atmosphere and less regimented schedule on the other.

“Our goal is to create an environment where our members can all reconnect in the style and comfort they’re accustomed to. If you’ve never experienced it firsthand, come to a rally and see for yourself. You’ll come away with a lot of new friends and have a lot of fun, I guarantee it. That’s what the Prevost Prouds are all about.”
